Tarrant County Go Red for Women

In today’s fast-paced world, women are doing it all—careers, family, errands, and everything in between. But while they're taking care of everyone else, their own health often takes a backseat.

That’s why heart disease remains the No. 1 killer of women—claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined.

It’s time to change the beat.

By supporting the Go Red for Women movement in Tarrant County, you're helping make a local impact on awareness, education, and life-saving research. Together with the American Heart Association, we’ll empower women to take control of their health and keep dancing through life with strong hearts and bold moves.

Maternal Health- Heart disease is the leading cause of pregnancy-related deaths in the U.S.—and the impact hits Black, Native American, Asian, and Hispanic moms hardest. We're pushing for equitable care, education, and support to protect all moms. Awareness- Go Red is a movement powered by women, for women—raising voices and awareness to fight heart disease and stroke, their No. 1 health threat. Through stories, media, and events, we're putting heart health in the spotlight. Research- Women are underrepresented in both medical research and STEM. We're changing that with Research Goes Red, STEM Goes Red, and more funding to better understand how heart disease impacts women. Wellbeing in Women- Women are twice as likely to face depression—and the load only got heavier during the pandemic. We're creating tools and resources to support mental health and well-being at every stage of life.

Let’s Go Red, Together

Nearly half of women over age 20 are living with some form of CVD. Additionally, women experience unique life stages, such as pregnancy and menopause, that can increase their risk of developing CVD. Even more startling is the fact that only about half of women are aware that cardiovascular disease is their greatest health threat.

Cardiovascular disease does not discriminate, and it is not a one-size-fits all issue. It’s as diverse and complex as women are. Health is personal. Confounding. And often lonely. It’s not just numbers and tests, self-discipline and denial. It’s feelings, it’s focus, it’s balance. It’s life. But what it isn’t – is fair. Heart disease unfairly targets women. Women have been left out of research, testing, treatment, and funding.

Fortunately, women have an amazing resource – each other. Go Red for Women is dedicated to connecting women to motivate each other, educate each other, and inspire each other. Because united, we have the power to build communities that foster better health. Let's Go Red, Together.

The Power of Go Red for Women

For more than 20 years, the American Heart Association’s signature women’s initiative, Go Red for Women, has met the evolving health needs of women and addressed the awareness and clinical care gaps of their greatest health threat, cardiovascular disease (CVD). Go Red for Women is a source of credible, equitable health solutions at every age, stage, and season of life, walking hand-in-hand with women as a trusted health partner.

Thanks to the support from our funders, volunteers, and champions, we are working to improve the heart and brain health of all women. And with historical inequities in research, treatment, and funding, Go Red for Women is a powerful movement focused on ensuring women are seen, heard, and counted when it comes to their health.
